That's what great about the book. These awful, capricious overwhelmingly powerful wastrel gods with nothing better to do. I think she captures that perfectly, especially in the portrayal of Helios, Circes father, who can turn anyone to ash in a second. That reality is hovering above every action.
I have to review what I wrote. But yes. I believe with reference to the pantheon dominating the themes of the book? It’s a curse. This isn’t a theological comment but much in the way that ‘eternals’ in other literary works they have become jaded and suffer as a result.
Right. It was just the way it was phrased. you were probably phrasing conversationally but literally it could be seen as opposite. But yeah, the ultimate reason for getting jaded, be a god. Like heaven, who'd want to be there, after the first millennium or so.
Wonderful book, highly recommended. It's going to be a TV series, HBO I think. It's incredibly visual. If they come close to the book's visuals, the TV show will be spectacular.
It was a long running daytime soap opera. I don't think the Greeks worshipped them as much as were influenced by the story, whichever side they might align with, and pledged fidelity to that.
Miller completely embraces the ridiculous idea of eternal life as a gift.
It would drive anyone, man or god, to insanity.

Absolutely! Thanks again Patris!
Did I misread you? Did you mean Miller embraces the idea of eternal life as a ridiculous proposition?

How many of us would be granted pardon if our true hearts were known?

Hence the immortal cry prefacing unbearable pain,
Ye Gods!
Such drama kings and queens. I can't entirely understand why the Greeks worshipped them.
Hehe...could be a case of man creating God in his own image

You have to know Greeks in Greece to understand what fatalism is when mixed with good music and dancing.
